ST. PETERSBURG (SNN-TV) – Per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, the Rays are claiming Infielder Yu Chang from the Pirates. Pittsburgh designated the infielder for assignment last week.
To create a spot on the 40-man roster, Tampa Bay transferred second baseman Brandon Lowe from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list.
Prior to playing in Pittsburgh, Chang played parts of four seasons with the Cleveland Guardians until he was designated for assignment this past May.
This season in 49 plate appearances, Chang, who’s capable of playing all four infield positions, has one HR, two RBI’s and .167 BA.
