ST. PETERSBURG (SNN-TV) – Being that it’s September first, that means Major League rosters are expanding to allows teams to have 28 players on their active rosters.

Thus, the Rays have selected the contracts of veteran right-handed pitcher David Robertson and sure handed shortstop Taylor Walls from Triple-A Durham. The Rays signed Robertson two weeks ago following the completion of the Olympic games in Tokyo, Japan. Robertson did well enough to warrant the Rays signing him to a one year, $2M contract. Taylor Walls rejoins the Rays after just over a month spent with Triple-A Durham. During his 39 game stint with the Rays earlier this season, Walls hit .212 while showcasing some dazzling defensive capabilities.

Both Walls and Robertson join a Rays team that has won nine straight and shares the best record in baseball. The Rays take on the Red Sox tonight, in the 3rd game of a 4-game set, at 7:10 from Tropicana Field.
