ST. PETERSBURG (SNN-TV) – The day after clinching the American League East title, the Rays achieved another impressive feat in Sunday’s Citrus Series finale with the Marlins.

With the hit, Franco extended his on-base streak to 41 games, trailing only Frank Robinson’s 43 games (1956) for the longest on-base streak for a player 20 or younger.

Franco’s double and late inning triple, were two of many hits that helped the Rays to their 97th win. The win total is history itself, as it ties the 2008 Rays team for the most wins in a season in franchise history.

Rays manager who played against the Rays in 2008, raved about being in such elite company. “Certainly have a ton of respect for the 2008 team, that’s when the Rays really got things turned around in the right direction. Had a special season and to be mirrored with them right now is pretty reflective of two very talented teams.”
