SARASOTA (SNN TV) – A Punta Gorda-founded brewery is opening in Sarasota. Fat Point Brewing will open at UTC along Cattlemen Road by Ford’s Garage.
Fat Point’s president says they hope to open in early 2023, according to the Herald-Tribune. The brewery gets its name from Punta Gorda, which literally means “Fat Point” (or “fat tip”), which is the area where the Peace River and Gasparilla Sound waters meet.
The Punta Gorda location is currently closed and has been for a while; the owner says COVID related delays, months pursuing a downtown relocation, Hurricane Ian, and delays involving another tenant are the reasons it’s taken so long to reopen. However, the president says they’ll be back in Punta Gorda soon.
Fat Point offers Southwest Florida-inspired brews as well as coastal-inspired and seafood dishes, plus your regular staples of burgers and sandwiches.
