WASHINGTON, D.C. (SNN-TV) – President Biden welcomed the Tampa Bay Lightning to the White House today to celebrate, not one, but two Stanley Cup Championships.

The reigning NHL champions joined President Biden at the White House to celebrate winning back-to-back titles.

This is the first time in franchise history the Lightning have been at the White House, unable to celebrate their 2020 win due to COVID concerns and not invited to mark their 2004 victory by then President George Bush, due to an on-going NHL labor dispute.

But today the Tampa Bay Lightning finally got the chance to be recognized for their second and third championships, even it if was by a President who is a Philadelphia Flyers fan.

And just yesterday, Nikita Kucherov had two goals and three assists when the Tampa Bay Lightning ended the Florida Panthers’ team-record 13-game winning streak with an 8-4 victory at FLA Live Arena.

Steven Stamkos had two goals and two assists, and Victor Hedman had four assists for the Lightning, who have won three in a row. Andrei Vasilevskiy made 37 saves.

The Lightning are back in action tomorrow in Columbus against the Blue Jackets.
