Philanthropist Margery Barancik dies after tragic car crash

SARASOTA – Days after her husband died in a tragic car crash, Philanthropist, Margery Barancik, dies.   The people that knew them are saddened by their loss.

“Margie’s just embodies kindness in every way, and it’s a tremendous loss and together,” Jennifer Rominiecki said. “Margie and Chuck were just a magnificent couple.”

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens President, Jennifer Rominiecki, says the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, has had a transformational impact on the community. They accomplished so much in only 5 years, investing more than $50 million in local non-profits in the foundations.

At Girl’s Inc. President, Angie Stringer, says they were a power couple who had the vision to see into the future and see what they knew was going to be important.

“They are two of the most selfless people that I’ve met on my life,” Angie Stringer said. “And the impact that they made in the community has probably been greater than any two people I know.”

Vice President of the Foundation, John Annis reminisces on Margie’s beginning.

“I also remember when I first started that Margie particularly was almost embarrassed by their philanthropy,” John Annis said.

The two were humble human begins simply trying to make the world a better place. Their legacy will carry on.

Margie Barancik passed away Thursday, at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. She was gravely injured in the accident that took the life of her husband Charles on Tuesday night. 

The Charles and Margery Barancik foundation is remembering their loss.

“We love the fact that people have been calling and letting us know their thoughts and prayers and how much they appreciate what has been done with the community,” Annis said.

Their memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 22 at 2 p.m.
