Parkinson Place Push-Up Challenge

SARASOTA COUNTY – Parkinson Place in Sarasota launches the Push-Up for Parkinson’s Challenge. Participants are sponsored a dollar a push up, and ask three other people to accept the challenge and pass it on. Funds raised benefit Parkinson Place, a 501 c3 non-profit community center offering more than 60- free programs a month to people living with Parkinson’s Disease.

Parkinson Place CEO, Alix Redmonde launched the initiative. She encourages people to take to their social media accounts to get as many people as they know to help contribute to the cause.

“If everybody just donated twenty bucks towards Parkinson’s place, Alix Redmonde said. “They will be contributing to a wonderful, what I call, a community of people living with Parkinson’s and people that love them.”

Member Darlene Fassold went from not being able to do one, to now being able to do 50-wall push-ups. The crowd cheered her on as she completed her push-ups.

“I’m running out of money,” Darlene Fassold said.

Alix Redmonde swapped her six-inch heels for sneakers while performing sixty one push-ups.

“There you go, for those of you that sponsored me,” Alix Redmonde said. “That’s 61 dollars. Everyone that showed up today, challenge 3 people you know to accept the challenge. Raise awareness. Spread the word.”
