SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. (SNN TV) – One year after losing their daughter in a hit-and-run crash, an Osprey family still waits for the driver’s sentencing.

Almost a year ago, 13-year-old Lilly Glaubach planned to ride her bike a little over a mile to her family’s new home.

About 10 minutes later, an officer reached out to Lilly’s mom, Sarah Alexander, asking her to call.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol report, that’s when the family learned a driver hit Lilly while she was crossing the street.

The driver, 66-year-old David Chang, fled the scene but was found the next day.

Lilly died 11 days later, just shy of her 14th birthday. Family and friends are still waiting for justice.

Chang pleaded no contest in March to charges of leaving the scene of the crash involving a death and alternating or destroying evidence.

His sentencing is delayed until Aug. 31.

The defense asked for a sentence of three years of home confinement and no prison time.

In an interview with the Herald Tribune, Lilly’s mom says “I mean, our daughter was killed, that’s upsetting on its own, but then the way that it happened and the lack of remorse… it just seems like a really bad dream, like it just does not seem real.”
