NORTH PORT (WSNN) – North Port High football players miss out on kicking off at their first home game.

Thursday night, the football game against Lakewood Ranch High School cancelled after the referees didn’t show up.

It was Lakewood Ranch’s first season game and North Port’s Senior night.

NPHS Athletic Director, Tony Miller says it was all because of a fumble in the schedule, something he says doesn’t usually happen.

Disappointing of course, for everyone.

“It was an unintentional scheduling mistake,” Miller said. “The schedule was sent in and it was never scheduled.”

“It’s a little upsetting knowing you worked four years for a good senior night and not even be able to play on it,” football player #16 Juan Cisneros said.

“It kinda sucks, but that’s just the way that things are today, and we’ll just have to come back Monday and come back harder,” football player #2 Jeffrey Terry said.

Miller says they’re trying to play this game on Monday. But it’s still up in the air. Miller says it will be tough to schedule two games in one week
