SARASOTA – The new President of Planned Parenthood Dr. Leana Wen stopped in the Suncoast to attend the annual Planned Parenthood fundraiser in Sarasota.

Wen has only been president for three months and says her goal is to help establish more Planned Parenthood clinics across the country despite the push back from the Trump administration.

According to Wen more than 25 million women in the U.S. could end up living in a state where abortion is outlawed and criminalized. She says a women’s right to choose is the fight of the century.

“Less than two weeks ago the Trump/Pence administration released the Title 10 gag rule, which would affect the ability for four million women and families with low income to get healthcare,” said Wen. “This violates the oath that I took when I became a doctor and unethical, unquestionable, illegal and harmful to patients everywhere.”

Wen says Plant Parenthood is now suing the Trump administration alongside American Medical Association and 21 state attorney generals to continue fighting the right of women.
