SARASOTA (SNN TV) – One of the newly installed New College board members is now targeting Florida State University’s diversity program.

Christopher Rufo accuses FSU of being a “sprawling bureaucracy dedicated to promoting left-wing narratives.” Rufo cited an FSU research project that he claims reveals a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ideology in the school. The Herald-Tribune reports Rufo says FSU’s Classical Department issued a pro-Black Lives Matter statement, and that the Art History Department portrays Europeans as illegal settlers in America.

FSU responded to Rufo. The university says much of what he’s saying is “obsolete.” They said 146 of the pages Rufo presented was from a training program discontinued in 2019. An FSU business professor calls Rufo’s claims “exaggerated rubbish,” saying, “I suspect that the vast majority of our thousands of business students… would find claims of indoctrination laughable.”

For some more background on Rufo: The New Yorker magazine credits Rufo for starting the critical race theory controversy three years ago. His opponents accuse him of cherry-picking data to support his positions.
