MANATEE COUNTY (WSNN) – Manatee Children’s Services is hosting its first blood drive this weekend.

MCS is a non-profit dedicated to breaking the cycle of child abuse on the Suncoast.

And since the coronavirus canceled all their fundraiser events, they partnered with the Suncoast Blood Centers to receive some funds for charity.

An anonymous foundation will be matching each blood donation with 100 dollars. So people just need to show up and donate blood.

“This is our opportunity to get extra funds for our children. Our shelter is full to capacity,” Event Planner, Amalia Flores said. “We decided not to send our children to school with the risk of getting sick. So we’re going to have homeschooling for the, so we really need the support from the community.”

The blood drive will be on Saturday at the Lakewood Ranch Donor Center and Sunday at the Waterline Marina Resort & Beach Club. Both from 8am to 4 pm.

A raffle ticket will be given out to all blood donors to win a weekend stay at Waterline Marina Resort & Beach Club.
