PUNTA GORDA (SNN TV) – A Punta Gorda man is arrested in relation to the discovery of a decomposing body in a residence.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded at the 29000 block of Turbak Drive in reference to a wellness check. According to law enforcement, nobody answered the door, and deputies noticed a foul odor coming from inside the place. 36-year-old Justin D. Carver eventually stepped outside and locked the door behind him.
Deputies say Carver was being evasive as they questioned him. They eventually went inside the home and found a woman in her 50s decomposing in one of the bedrooms.
Carver was charged with Failing to Report a Death to Medical Examiner and Resisting Officer Without Violence. He’s currently being held at the Charlotte County Jail.
