LONGBOAT KEY – The Longboat Key Police Department Project Medicine Cabinet was started back in 2014 to provide resident a safe place to get rid of medication just gathering dust.
Deputy Chief Frank Rubino says anything from over the counter medication or controlled substance are welcomed.
”So that we don’t have everybody dumping everything into the drain and into the ecosystem, and this is just a better way to get rid of everything in one particular spot,” said Chief Rubino Once a year we have the receptacle is empty and is destroyed properly.“
Residents can drop off their unwanted medication during regular business hour Monday – Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
