SARASOTA, Fla. (SNN TV) – A local troupe will reenact Doctor Martin Luther King Junior’s speeches with song and dance.

Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe is inviting the community to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King in a production titled “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: Celebrating His Legacy in Spoken Word and Song.”

The show was arranged and directed by WBTT Founder and Artistic Director Nate Jacobs.

Program highlights will include excerpts from Dr. King’s speeches and writings, re-enacted again this year by Rev. Charles McKenzie.

It’ll be mixed with singing and dancing by some of WBTT’s professional performers as well as students from WBTT’s Stage of Discovery youth training program.

According to its website, the mission of WBTT is “to produce professional theatre that promotes and celebrates African American history and experience.”

The performance takes place on Sunday, Jan. 14th at 7:30 p.m. at the Sarasota Opera House on 61 North Pineapple Ave in Sarasota.
