SARASOTA COUNTY (WSNN) – Suncoast law enforcement officers also comment on the guilty verdict of Derek Chauvin.

And they say they’re more dedicated now than ever to restore the community’s trust in law enforcement.

Tuesday, many were wondering what the verdict of America’s criminal justice system would lead to.

And this is what our Suncoast leaders had to say…

“Hopefully people will regain some trust in the process that it does work. It’s not perfect, but it’s the best process that we have,” North Port Police Department Chief Todd Garrison said.

“I have faith in the jury system,” Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff Kurt Hoffman said. “I was a prosecutor for eight years and the jury did their job. The criminal justice system is not perfect, but it’s the best in the world/“

They say Chauvin was properly held accountable for his actions.
