VENICE- Hundreds gathered at Centennial Park in downtown Venice to celebrate the last day of Hanukkah. The Chabad of Venice hosted the Hanukah Klezmer Festival Sunday night. Families left notes on the western wall replica, lit a 12 foot menorah and even paid a special tribute to victims of the Pittsburgh shooting. The event was free and open to the public,
“Over 4000 locations millions of Jews and non-Jewish are celebrating and we find in today’s world where there is so much darkness each one is a candle we can light that them up and collectively do good,” said Rabbi Sholom Schmerling.
Other Hanukah Celebrations and giant menorah lightings took place in Englewood and North Port.
