SARASOTA – The Humane Society of Sarasota County is trying to connect you with your new best furry friend.
“If you’re thinking about adopting, this is the weekend to let love in to your home,” said Senior Director of Philanthropy, Autumn Steiner.
The Humane Society of Sarasota County is partnering with the Best Friends Animal Society to help Suncoast shelter pets find their furrever homes
“This adoption event starts tomorrow, Friday July 9th, and we’re doing two days, so it’ll also go on through Saturday and it’s basically a promotion to help get some of our long term animals adopted, we have identified 30 cats and dogs that have been here over 30 days,” said Steiner.
The best part? All eligible dogs and cats can be taken home with a $25 adoption fee.
“So that’s significantly lower than their normal adoption fees so it’s a great incentive, it’s a great time for people to come out if they’re thinking about adopting an animal this would be a perfect time to do it,” said Steiner.
While all pets are adoptable, only a few select will be part of the event
“When you come into the shelter you can walk through the cat areas, walk through the dog areas, and you’ll be able to tell which animal is part of the promotion because they will have this little tag right on their kennel and it’ll say let love in because that’s the name of the event and that’ll indicate that they are one of the animals that is participating and that you should ask to meet them,” said Steiner.
Pet availability can also be viewed in real-time online
“Every animal that you adopt from the humane society has been spayed neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, de-wormed, they are just ready to go, so this is the time to adopt,” said Steiner.
