NORTH PORT – The coronavirus is causing many deficits and local non-profits are calling on the Suncoast for help.

HOPE for North Port is in need of food, volunteers, and drivers.

Executive Director, Steve Leclarc, says they serve about 7500 people with their food pantry.

He says their biggest initiative is to meet the influx of need for food.

“We’ve had to train the volunteers on distancing on safety practices. And basically with this heat now that we’ve got as well making sure they’re staying hydrated and well aware of their own physical conditions while we’re processing.”

They need drivers to deliver food to the homes of the elderly.

They have a GoFundMe page where you can help as well.
