SARASOTA – The Holocaust Museum Boxcar Exhibit arrived at St. Martha Catholic School Monday, April 29. It’s pat of the eighth graders’ unit based on World War II and the Holocaust.

St. Martha Principal Siobhan Young says the car was actually used to transport Jewish people during the Holocaust.

“They didn’t know where they were going; they didn’t’ know what they were going for, or how long they would be there,” Young said. “So I think it’s important for our students to be reminded of that period in history and how a person in that moment may have felt, so we’re never back there.”

The exhibit is open to the public thru May 10. It’s located in front of the Zazarino Center on the St. Martha campus. The boxcar is the largest artifact at the Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Naples.
