Gas Up & Go: ‘Ride & Paddle’ offering free kayak tours to explore Sarasota Bay

SARASOTA – We’re going from the driver’s seat to captain of our own kayak in this Gas Up & Go, exploring Sarasota Bay Ride & Paddle.

These water sports aficionados teamed up with non-profit The Bay Sarasota conservancy with a shared goal of connecting the community with Bay Park…for free…but we’ll get to that part soon.

“So, this gives people the opportunity for recreation on the waterfront, outdoor space to come and enjoy downtown, and it’s waterfront,” says Ride & Paddle instructor Craig Clevenger.

You can venture on your own, or a guided tour where you’ll learn some of the coolest things on the Suncoast are right under your nose.

“First we’re going to start off in this beautiful mangrove bayou that has been restored. We see lots of different species of fish. We also see barnacles and oysters,” says Clevenger.

You’ll pass some cool landmarks, and plenty of opportunity for people watching too. Best of all, you can experience this for free as part of their 2-year anniversary celebration.

“We’re doing a free tour on Friday and on Saturday morning every week,” says Clevenger

You’ll need to sign up ahead of time as Clevenger availability fills up fast.
