SARASOTA – A local nonprofit is continuing to help those in need with pandemic care packages.
Divante Watkins founder of Future Leaders of America Inc. hosted their 14th pandemic package giveaway. Watkins says partnering with All Faiths Food Bank lets him give nonperishable to residents that have fallen on hard times.
He started this project at the beginning of the pandemic and says he doesn’t see an end in sight.
“We really don’t know when this pandemic is gonna go on, and I thought to myself even after this whole pandemic is over with,” said Watkins. “There is always going to be a family or just people that’s in need.”
Watkins sets up the giveaways in areas with low income families who were already struggling before the pandemic started.
“There’s always gonna be someone that’s less fortunate and that needs help, so this is never gonna to stop,” he said.
