SARASOTA- Florida Power & Light Company deployed more than 300 employees and contractors to assist power restoration crews in Texas and Louisiana.
The workers began their journey Tuesday morning to help restore power following the landfall of Tropical Storm Marco and Hurricane Laura.
FPL says crews will be there as long as they are needed.
“This is the second deployment of our crews out of the state of Florida, even this month we had crews going up to New Jersey to help get the lights back on after hurricane Isaias and now we’re sending crews again to help our fellow Americans in need, that is what it’s all about,” said FPL Spokesperson, Bill Orlove.
Due to the pandemic, crews will also follow safety guidelines including social distancing, increased sanitation measures, and wear masks where appropriate.
