SARASOTA (WSNN) – School is out and summer is here, which means summer camps.

Florida Studio Theatre, a performing arts center, is offering coronavirus friendly space for kids to learn how to act, dance, and improv.

Director of education, Josh Ford, says the camps have CDC guidelines in place by social distancing, wearing masks, and wiping down the space often.

He says while it’s less dynamic being in smaller groups in distancing, it offers more one–on–one between teacher and student.

For one Sarasota family, they say while they’re thankful for the zoom classes, it doesn’t compare to learning in a physical space.

“The in-person classes, Leila just came alive once that started to happen,” Will said. “This little shy kid that you’re seeing right now is a bundle of energy when she gets out of camp.”

“I like to sing the favorite song that they always play, it’s called ‘Stay Together.'”

This is exactly what Leila says she plans to do by staying with her friends for another camp this summer.  Leila says she hopes to become a famous actress one day.

FST is offering 3–week camps for seven to 12-year-olds in the mornings and two camps for teens in the afternoon.

FST began its first session at the beginning of June.
