SARASOTA – Florida gas prices are leveling off after another 13 cent jump, last week.

The state average now sits at $3.31 per gallon, becoming the most expensive daily average since October 2014.

The state average has increased 1 dollar and 12 cents per gallon since January 1st.

“What we pay at the pump is directly tied to the price in oil, when oil prices increase that makes the price in producing gasoline that much more expensive, and oil prices have surged recently all due to concerns that the global supply of crude is not enough to meet demand,” said AAA Spokesman, Mark Jenkins.

AAA recommends to try to limit how much time you spend in the car, shop around for best gas prices in town, and consider paying cash.

As some retailers charge extra for customers who pay with credit cards.
