FLORIDA (SNN TV) – Three Florida House members successfully ask the Biden administration to create a special enrollment period for more than 1 million Floridians.

A continuous coverage requirement was set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. That’s set to end March 31. After that, those enrolled in Medicaid or CHIP would have just over two months to find other coverage or lose their benefits.

According to a press release, Florida Democratic Representative Maxwell Frost teamed with Representatives Darren Soto and Kathy Castor of Florida, among others, to ask the Biden Administration to implement a special enrollment period. This allows Floridians covered by this requirement to apply for Medicaid or CHIP over a 60-day period through the Affordable Care Act marketplace.

The request was approved a day later.
