FHP investigates fatal vehicle crash on I-75

SARASOTA – Developing overnight. A deadly multi-vehicle crash shuts down parts of I-75 well into the morning hours.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a multi fatal vehicle crash on I-75 that shut down parts of the busy interstate late Thursday night.

Multiple units are assisting FHP in the investigation, which resulted in all southbound lanes of traffic to be shut down between Mile Marker 210 – Fruitville Road and Mile Marker 207 -Bee Ridge Road just after 10 P.M.

Investigators have yet to release much information about the crash. It’s unclear at this time how many vehicles were involved or the number of fatalities in this crash.

We have yet to receive any reports of injuries or transports as state troopers continue their investigation.

The South Exit Ramp and East Entrance Ramp of Exit 210 onto Fruitville Road remain closed as of this reporting.

Motorists are highly encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid the area until the roadway reopens.
