SARASOTA – A crash on 17th street and East Avenue sends two people to the hospital.

Sarasota police department arrived to the scene after two cars collided at the intersection shortly after three this afternoon. The intersection was closed while crews investigate the cause of the crash.

Victoria Rocha witnessed the crash and caught it all on surveillance footage from Santos Construction. She says immediately rushed to help. “I just thought to ran outside and check if everyone okay?” said Rocha.

“Well see this believe it or not this happens here more frequent than it should probably once every two months,” said Wagner Santos, owner of Santos Construction. “People are coming in flying through here they don’t see the red light, so it wasn’t that much of a shock.”

Two people were transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital. The extent of their injuries is has not been reported at this time.
