MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (SNN TV) – The popular restaurant, bar, and live music venue, Cortez Kitchen, is closing for the rest of the summer.

Restaurant’s proprietor Joe Oelker says he’s retiring and that he’s watching over his mother. He says he’s also not feeling well himself, according to the Herald Tribune.

The good news, however, is that owner John Banyas says Cortez Kitchen will be closed for quote “probably a month or more,” but “open before season.”

While closed, Banyas says there may be upgrades to the kitchen, deck boards and bathrooms.

The restaurant offers waterfront dining in Historic Cortez Village, Florida seafood and live music Friday through Sunday.

They’re open until 8 p.m. Sunday before closing for the summer.
