SARASOTA COUNTY – Sarasota County Commissioner Christian Ziegler is not running for re-election.
The deadline to qualify to run was Friday at noon, and Ziegler did not qualify. Ziegler told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that along with running a firm, helping Governor DeSantis‘ reelection campaign and helping with his wife Bridget Ziegler’s School Board reelection, he does not have time to dedicate himself to a full-time campaign for County Commission.
Siesta Key Leaders Mark Smith and Lourdes Ramirez will face off in a GOP Primary.
Former Sarasota Mayors Fredd Atkins and Hagen Brody, along with Siesta Key advocate Mike Cosentino, will be running in the Democratic primary.
