Climate Champions celebrate those improving Suncoast environment

Ed Chiles is being recognized at the inaugural Climate Champions event.

SARASOTA (SNN TV) – The Climate Adaptation Center’s goal is to fill the gap between what science knows and what people think they know.

While it’s easy to become pessimistic about red tide or pesticide runoff into our rivers, the goal of the inaugural Climate Champions event is to take the energy of recent climate victories and give it a path to travel.

Chiles is one of the people being recognized at the event and is the son of former Florida governor Lawton Chiles. He’s part an initiative called “All Clams on Deck.” According to its website, “[r]estoring clam populations and seagrass meadows will result in improved water quality and healthier habitats for commercial and recreational fisheries – and people, too!
