PORT CHARLOTTE (SNN-TV) – Port Charlotte star receiver Alex Perry signed his letter of intent this weekend to play at the University of Hawaii.

The two-sport athlete Perry was surrounded by friends and family this weekend for his second signing day, this time at the Young Life Center located inside the Port Charlotte Town Center Mall.

Perry had previously been to committed to JUCO powerhouse Coffeyville Community College, but changed his commitment after he received a full-ride scholarship to play for the Rainbow Warriors, a Division-One program in the Mountain West Conference.

Perry says he’s looking forward to all the new experiences the Aloha State has to offer.

“I’m just excited to experience the new culture, and all the new sayings, and getting used to a whole different place while playing the sport that I love. I’m excited that playing the sport that I love has gave me the opportunity to meet new people and go to such a different place.”

Alex told me the only piece of Hawaiian language he’s picked up on is obviously “Aloha”, which in it of itself has multiple meanings, but he’ll be learning more soon as he’ll be headed to Honolulu later this summer to begin workouts.
