SARASOTA-MANATEE – A Suncoast pizza place is helping feed the front line workers during this coronavirus crisis.
Mellow Mushroom Pizza Bakers in Sarasota is serving lunch and dinner every day to the healthcare workers on the Suncoast.
The food delivery goes to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Doctor’s Hospital.
Owner, Karen Atwood, says they’re serving large hearty meals of salads, and of course, pizza.
Atwood says her retired healthcare neighbors inspired her to take this initiative.
It’s all in hopes of making a difference. Atwood says she wants to be a small part of the solution.
“To feed those who are at most risk. I mean, it’s special,” Just to see the faces of the nurses who come down to pick up the food, it’s awesome, and their reactions.”
