BRADENTON – A Bradenton woman is forced to flee from her home after it catches on fire Tuesday night.

The fire happened at the Casa Loma Mobile Home Park in the 200th block of 50th Avenue Plaza East shortly after 6 pm. Battalion Chief Adam Perry says when crews arrived, they saw heavy black smoke coming from the roof of the home.

Perry says the homeowner was inside the house at the time of the fire along with five of her pets.

Kristina Demers says she was at home decorating for the holidays when she noticed several fire trucks began to park on her street.

“My mom and I went down before they taped everything off and we went down there. Spoke to the homeowner, she was a little shaken up at the time,” said Demers.

She says at first she didn’t think to much of it since first responders tend to be called to the area often.

“But we have a lot of nice folks who live here, and I’m sure whatever it is that she needs hopefully we can all come together and help her out,” she said.

Battalion Chief Perry says luckily everyone made it out of the home alive and no one suffered any injuries. The state fire marshal is still investigating into what may have started the fire the destroyed the home.
