It’s as much of a party as it is a marathon on the Suncoast.
Three thousand racers ran to then beat of the Sarasota Music Half Marathon, early Sunday morning. Runners pass 20 bands across 42 locations. Beginning at the Van Wezel, the half marathon takes runners across the Ringling Bridge to St. Armand’s Circle and back around, past Marina Jack before leading runners back to the finish line at the Van Wezel.
SNN’s own Hallie Peilet crossed the finish line with her father, Andy Peilet.
“It was so special, that was the best part. I never thought I’d be able to hold a conversation with someone while running. So that was pretty cool,” said Hallie Peilet.
“Every mile or so we’d punch knuckles and take our pictures and just enjoyed it. It was really a special moment. I was inspired to have this memory forever,” said Andy Peilet.
A 10 and 5K were also featured at this year’s race.
