LAKEWOOD RANCH (SNN-TV) – The fifth installment of the LECOM Suncoast Classic teed off this morning at Lakewood National, putting some of the Korn Ferry Tour’s best stars on display.
With play getting underway at 6:55am, today marks the fifth tournament of the 26-event 2022 Korn Ferry Tour schedule and the first in the United States, as the Tour opened the season four international events.
This year’s field includes 45 past Korn Ferry Tour winners with 58 total wins and 13 past PGA TOUR winners with 24 total victories. One of the stars atop the leaderboard after round one, was KFT Q-School leading points winner, Zack Fischer, who finished with a solid round of 64 (-7).
Fischer spoke to his putting being the tipping point of his success on day one. “Today the stroke felt really solid. The putter-face felt like it stayed really square and stable. I rolled it really, really well.”
China’s Zecheng Dou also sits atop the leaderboard after day one. Round 2 will pickup tomorrow morning, with play beginning at 6:55am, again.
