NOKOMIS (WSNN) – A Sarasota County school receives supplies from a volunteer organization in Venice, Friday morning.

Venetian Gulf & River Club Community Association spearheaded the “Supply for Supplies” project to help Laurel Nokomis School.

As COVID presents many challenges for students with unemployed parents and the no-sharing supply rule, Project Leader, Roger Effron, says they wanted to help.

The project began on August 10th and ran for two weeks.

They ended up with about 15 large boxes of school supplies and a check for over 4800 dollars to LNS.

“Here’s an opportunity to give to the community and you know if you go to any store and you buying 15-dollars or 10-dollars worth of supplies turning them into the box, you feel good,” Effron said. “So it gave that spark to the community, that good-feeling spark.”

The school is using the money to buy even more supplies.

All the donations will go directly to the LNS students when school starts.
