SARASOTA – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given LabCorp an Emergency Use Authorization to offer COVID–19, at-home test kits.

LapCorp calls this kit the Pixel.

The EUA allows nasal swab specimens to be collected at home using Pixel, if recommended by a healthcare provider after completing a COVID–19 questionnaire.

“LabCorp’s COVID–19 self–collection test is part of the company’s continued commitment to increase the supply and availability of tests for healthcare workers and first responders who have symptoms consistent with the virus,” LabCorb spokesperson, Mike Geller said.

He says this will help reduce the risk of transmitting the virus to others and reduce the demand for personal protective equipment (PPE).

The at–home test kit costs $119.
