(SNN TV) — She led the Notre Dame women’s basketball team to 24 straight NCAA tournaments, winning two national titles. This Friday, Muffet McGraw gets her first chance to take in the annual Dick Vitale Gala.

“I was just so honored when I got the call from him, because he is somebody who I have so much respect for,” McGraw said.

Muffet Mcgraw, racked up more than 900 career wins during her time coaching in college; four times being named AP coach of the year. A Hall of Fame leader on the court, this Friday, McGraw will get a chance “to see what they can raise to help research, to try and combating, and find a cure for this disease eventually, I’m excited to be a part of,” McGraw said.

It’s events like the Dick Vitale Gala that display the true power of sports.

“When we get together it is amazing what we can accomplish, because the voices that people have, the platforms that they have, and how they are not afraid to use them,” McGraw said.

The Dick Vitale Gala has a way of making even the biggest names star struck. 

“I hope that I am not going around trying to get pictures with everybody,” McGraw said. “I want to maintain a little composure when I get there, but I know I am going to be so impressed with all the people that are going to be there.”
