MANATEE COUNTY- One high speed voting machine is down in Manatee County.

One of the two tabulation machines was shut down around 9 am, Wednesday. Manatee County Supervisor of Elections, Michael Bennett says all of the ‘Vote-by-mail ballots and early vote ballots have been processed, they are now going by precinct to make sure those ballots are properly counted. Bennett says, even with one of the machines down, they should still finish the recount Wednesday night.

“We’ve got an excellent repair service, he drove up from Fort Myers,” said Bennett. “It was squealing yesterday. It was still operating today but we did not want to take a gamble with it crashing during the race. We have a backup for that but we went ahead and had the service come up and run that other high speed scanner to get it going.”

The deadline to report updated results to the Florida Division of Elections is 3 p.m. Thursday.
