SARASOTA – The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee will host their first adapting to a changing climate summit.
Student will hear from guest speakers – all who are studying the effects of climate change on the planet.
Amongst some of the topics discussed will be on the frequency of stronger hurricanes, sea lever rising, and red tide.
Bob Bunting – a climate change scientist- says the Suncoast is ground zero for climate change but stresses it’s as much as an opportunity than a threat.
“We shouldn’t just be talking about the worst case scenario, we should be talking about the most likely scenario,” says Bunting. “So I’m all for, “let’s make it real, let’s make it local, and let’s get going. We can do it.”
The summit takes place Friday the 25th at 8:30 a.m.at the Selby Auditorium at USF Sarasota-Manatee.
The event is open to the public but will have to pay 50 dollars. Students get in for free.
