SARASOTA – The City of Sarasota has closed off two boat ramps to encourage residents to stay home amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The 10th Street Boat Ramp and the City Island Boat Ramp is closed to the public as of Sunday at 6 a.m. City Manager Tom Barwin and his staff made the choice to stop the spread of the virus within the city.

Sarasota County has more than 50 confirmed cases at this time.

The city has also closed the Bird Key parking lot until further notice. City officials have closed off public beaches and parks and encourage residents to shelter–at–home.
