PHILADELPHIA (SNN-TV) – Tom Brady threw two touchdown passes, Leonard Fournette ran for two scores and the Buccaneers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 28-22 on Thursday night.

The defending Super Bowl champion Buccaneers (5-1) lost another cornerback when three-time All-Pro Richard Sherman left in the first quarter with a hamstring injury, but their depleted defense held on after Jalen Hurts rallied the Eagles from a 28-7 deficit.

Playing with an injured thumb, Brady came out firing. The 44-year-old, seven-time Super Bowl champion tossed TD passes on Tampa Bay’s first two drives while going 11 for 12 for 121 yards.

Postgame, Brady still implored that the Bucs need to keep on improving. “It was a good win. It’s tough to win on the road. Obviously, we didn’t play our best, so we got to get back to work. We got a good, little break here, so we got to use it. Got to get back to work and see if we can get better.”

Even though the team performed and won on short rest. The added days off will be instrumental to the Bucs moving forward in regards to team health, according to Bruce Arians“We really need this rest. Hopefully we’ll see who we can get back, if anybody. But the ones who have been playing, they definitely need the time off.”

The Buccaneers will be back in action on Sunday, October 24th at home against the Chicago Bears.
